IT Requirements

This page outlines the network and email configuration steps that your school's IT administrator must complete before surveys go live. Completing these steps ensures students can access survey links and receive invitation emails without interruption.

Domain Whitelisting

To ensure students can reach the SNA Toolbox survey platform, your school's network security settings and web filters must allow access to the following domains:

  • Platform: app.snatoolbox.com
  • API: api.snatoolbox.com

Survey links sent to students follow this structure:

https://app.snatoolbox.com/survey/si/[token]

Example:

https://app.snatoolbox.com/survey/si/9a68dc9b-259b-4a31-a8e9-b6d2b7edccc0
note

Some school networks block external domains by default. Whitelisting these domains ensures students can open their survey links without being redirected or blocked.

Email Whitelisting

Survey invitations and participation links are sent to students via email from SNA Toolbox. To ensure reliable delivery, your school's email system should whitelist the following sender details:

  • Sender Email Address: admin@snatoolbox.com
  • Mail Server Provider: amazonses.com
  • Authentication: Emails are sent through Amazon Simple Email Service (Amazon SES), which provides SPF and DKIM verified delivery.

Technical Email Details

Emails sent from SNA Toolbox will have the following characteristics:

  • Mailed-By: amazonses.com
  • Signed-By: amazonses.com
  • Security: Standard encryption (TLS)

Bulk Email Considerations

Survey invitations are sent in bulk — potentially 1,000 or more at a time. Some school email servers may classify these messages as spam or block them entirely. To prevent this:

  • Add admin@snatoolbox.com and amazonses.com to the allowlist of the school's email system.
  • If applicable, increase the email rate limit or allow batch delivery from amazonses.com to prevent failed or delayed delivery.

Troubleshooting

If students or staff report problems accessing survey links or receiving emails, work through the following checks:

  1. Network Filtering — Confirm that app.snatoolbox.com and api.snatoolbox.com are accessible on the school's network.
  2. Spam / Junk Folder — Check whether invitation emails are landing in spam or junk instead of the inbox.
  3. Email Server Settings — Confirm that emails from admin@snatoolbox.com are not being blocked or quarantined.
  4. Firewall and Security Policies — Some firewalls may require explicit exceptions for Amazon SES traffic.
