Analytics Configuration and Execution
The Analytics feature allows you to run analytical models and calculations on the selected partition of the dataset and network relationships to obtain deeper insights into the network structure and behaviour. Analytics results help identify connectivity patterns, communities, structural properties, and relationship dynamics within the network.
The Analytics feature supports multiple analysis categories:
- General network analysis metrics.
- Strongly connected components.
- Weakly connected components.
- Greedy modularity communities.
- Customised ERGM analysis.
- Customised ALAAM analysis.
Open a Project → Select a Panel → Click Networks → Click Analytics
Requirements
- Ensure the correct partition is selected before running analytics, as analytics are executed only on the currently selected partition.
- If no custom partitions have been created, the Default Partition is selected automatically and analytics will run on all nodes and their relationships within the network.
Run Pre-Configured Analytics
- Select the required partition from the Partitions panel.
- Click Analytics — the system begins calculating analytics for the selected partition and its relationships. A loading indicator is displayed while calculations are processed.
- After execution is complete, a set of Analytics Buttons appears on the right side of the network view. Click a button to open its results in a floating panel. The default analytics categories are:
- Graph Analytics.
- Strongly Connected Components.
- Weakly Connected Components.
- Greedy Modularity Communities.
- Top 10 / Bottom 10.
- ERGMs (data is not available unless configured and executed separately).
- ALAAM (data is not available unless configured and executed separately).
Configure Additional Analytics
Additional analytical calculations can be configured from the Analytics menu, providing more advanced statistical and inferential network analysis capabilities.
- Click the small arrow next to the Analytics button.
- Select a configuration option from the list: Assortativity, ERGMs, or ALAAM.
Configure Assortativity
Assortativity measures the similarity of connections in the network based on selected node attributes.
- Open the Analytics menu and select Assortativity.
- Select one or more attributes from the list — selected attributes appear as chips. Remove attributes by unchecking them or clicking Clear Fields.
- Click Save.
- Click Analytics to run the updated calculations — assortativity values are added to the analytical outputs.
Configure ERGMs
ERGMs (Exponential Random Graph Models) are statistical models used for analysing network structures and relationship patterns.
- Open the Analytics menu and select ERGMs.
- Select one or more networks.
- Select one or more attributes. For each selected attribute, choose a type: auto, numeric, categorical, or binary.
- Click Save — the ERGM calculations are executed and results become available in the ERGMs analytics panel.
Configure ALAAM
ALAAM (Assessment of Latent and Active Attributes Model) is used to analyse the effects of attributes within social networks.
- Open the Analytics menu and select ALAAM.
- Select one or more Networks.
- Select a Quantile value.
- Select one or more Target Variables.
- Select one or more Explanatory Variables. For each, choose a type: auto, numeric, categorical, or binary.
- Click Save — the ALAAM calculations are executed and results become available in the ALAAM analytics panel.
