Filters
The Filters panel allows you to control what is visible in the current network view. Filters can be applied to both nodes and edges and are based on attributes or metadata. Three filtering options are available:
- Hiding Filters — Remove nodes or edges that do not match the filter criteria from the network view. Only matching items remain visible.
- Dimming Filters — Fade nodes or edges that do not match the filter criteria while keeping them visible. Matching items remain clear and prominent.
- Highlighting Filters — Emphasise nodes or edges that match the filter criteria. Non-matching items remain visible but less prominent.
All changes made in the Filters panel are applied to the currently selected view. Filter changes become visible after clicking Apply. To keep changes permanently, click Save. Unsaved changes are discarded if you leave the Networks module.
Filter creation, grouping, and configuration work the same across all three filtering sections and both the Nodes and Edges tabs.
Access the Filters Panel
- From the left-side toolbar, click the Filters icon — the Filters panel opens with the three filtering sections listed above.
Add and Configure a Filter
- Open the Filters panel and select the Nodes or Edges tab.
- In the desired section (Hiding Filters, Dimming Filters, or Highlighting Filters), click the (+) icon.
- Configure the filter settings:
- Filter Name — Optional name for the filter.
- Enabled — Enable or disable the filter.
- Attribute — Select an attribute from the dropdown. Attribute categories are:
- Node Meta — System-generated node metadata.
- Node Attributes — Node fields that obtained values from data collection.
- Type — Select a filter type. Available options depend on the selected attribute:
- Selection — Use value-based matching to filter specific attribute values. Configure the Selection Mode:
- Any Of — Matches any of the selected values.
- Not Any Of — Excludes the selected values.
- Select one or more Values from the dropdown list.
- Comparison — Use comparison operators to filter numeric or comparable values. Select a Comparison Mode (e.g., greater than, less than, between) and enter the required Values.
- Top-K — Filter items based on ranking order. Set a Limit (the value of K) and choose a Sort Order:
- Top-K — Highest values.
- Bottom-K — Lowest values.
- Optionally enable Include All Items With The Same Value As The Last Item (enabled by default) to include all nodes or edges sharing the same ranking value as the last item.
- Selection — Use value-based matching to filter specific attribute values. Configure the Selection Mode:
- Click Apply, then click Save.
You can create multiple filters by repeating the steps above within the desired section. All filters within a section are combined using AND logic.
Manage a Filter
- Locate the desired filter.
- Click the three-dot menu for the filter.
- Select one of the following options:
- Edit — Opens the filter's settings to modify its configuration.
- Disable / Enable — Toggles the filter without deleting it.
- Delete — Permanently removes the filter.
Add and Configure a Filter Group
- Open the Filters panel and select the Nodes or Edges tab.
- In the desired section, click the Add Group icon.
- Configure the group settings:
- Group Name — Optional name for the filter group.
- Operator — Controls how filters and groups inside the group are evaluated together: AND or OR.
- Enabled — Enable or disable the group.
- Add filters or nested groups inside the group by clicking the (+) icon in the group's Filters section. Follow the same steps as in Add and Configure a Filter or Add and Configure a Filter Group.
- Click Save.
A filter group should contain at least two filter elements to function meaningfully. Groups with fewer than two elements are highlighted in orange in the Filters panel, indicating the configuration is incomplete.
Create Nested Filter Groups
- Open a filter group.
- In the group's Filters section, click the Add Group icon.
- Configure the nested group as described in Add and Configure a Filter Group.
- Click Apply, then click Save.
The hierarchy of groups and their filters is displayed in the Filters panel and within each group's Filters section. The breadcrumb navigation at the top of the panel shows your current position within the hierarchy.
Manage a Filter Group
- Locate the desired filter group.
- Click the three-dot menu for the group.
- Select one of the following options:
- Edit — Opens the group's settings to modify its configuration.
- Disable / Enable — Toggles the group without deleting it.
- Delete — Permanently removes the group and all filters and nested groups inside it.
- Add Filter — Creates a new filter within the group.
- Add Group — Creates a nested group within the group.
Deleting a group also removes all filters and nested groups inside it.
Enable or Disable All Filters in a Section
- Open the Filters panel and select the Nodes or Edges tab.
- Locate the desired filtering section.
- Toggle the enable/disable switch — when enabled, all filters and groups in the section become active; when disabled, they become inactive.
This action affects all filters and nested groups within the selected filtering section.
Remove All Filters in a Section
- Open the Filters panel and select the Nodes or Edges tab.
- Locate the desired filtering section.
- Click the delete icon.
- In the confirmation dialog, click Yes.
This action permanently removes all filters and nested groups within the selected filtering section.
