Node Type Management
Before creating nodes, you must first create a Node Type. Node types define the data structure and respondent behaviour for all nodes within a panel.
Open a Project → Select a Panel → Click Nodes
Create a Node Type
- From the Nodes page, click Configure Node Types.
- Click Create Type in the top-right corner. If no node types exist yet, you can also click Create Your First Type displayed on the page.
- Enter the following basic details:
- Title — Name of the node type.
- Description — Optional description.
- Icon & Colour — Visual representation of the node type.
- Select a Respondent Mode to define how nodes interact with surveys:
- No responses allowed — Nodes do not participate in surveys.
- Self-report (this node) — The node responds for itself.
- One external respondent — One person responds for the node.
- Multiple respondents — Multiple people can respond for the node.
If you select any option other than No responses allowed, additional fields appear: Email Required and Mobile Required. These define the required contact information for respondents to receive survey communications.
- Add fields to define the data structure for each node. For each field, configure:
- Key — Unique identifier.
- Title — Display name.
- Description — Optional details.
- Is Mandatory — Toggle to mark the field as required.
- Data Type — Select one of the following:
- String — Text values. You can add comma-separated values to create dropdown options.
- Number — Numeric values. You can set Min Value and Max Value.
- Boolean — True/False.
- DateTime — Date and time.
- JSON — Structured data.
Click Add Field to add multiple fields. You can also import fields in bulk by clicking Import Fields and uploading a valid .csv file.
- Click Create Type to save.
