Relationships
The Relationships module allows you to define and manage connections between nodes. Relationships represent how entities are linked within your project and are used to build network structures. You can define relationship types to specify how nodes can be connected, then create or import relationship records based on those types.
Open a Project → Select a Panel → Click Relationships
What is a Relationship Type?
A relationship type defines the structure and meaning of connections between nodes. Relationship types are used during data collection to establish connections between nodes, forming a network of nodes and edges. Each relationship type represents a specific kind of connection and may include a sentiment — neutral, positive, or negative — to support meaningful analysis of social network structures.
A relationship type must be created before any relationships can be recorded.
What is a Relationship?
A relationship is an actual connection between two nodes, created based on a defined relationship type. Relationships represent real interactions or links between nodes (e.g., friendship, influence) and are typically generated through survey responses or imported data.
Once a relationship type is created, you can create or import relationship records for that type.
