Treemap

The Treemap Chart visualises hierarchical and categorical data using nested rectangles. Each rectangle represents a category, and its size is proportional to the corresponding data value. Treemaps are useful for comparing proportions, identifying dominant categories, and displaying large datasets in a compact and visually organised layout.

There is no autosave feature for Reports. Click Save regularly while working in the Report Workspace.

Treemap Chart Configuration

  1. Insert a Chart widget and click it to select it.
  2. In the Settings Panel, click the Chart tab and select Treemap from the Chart Type dropdown.
  3. Click Configure Data.
  4. In the left column, configure the following sections:

Data Source Selector

  1. Data Source — Select a data source for the chart. Available items are the data sources (partitions) already added to the report.
  2. Data Type — Select the type of data to use:
    • Nodes — Node-based data such as Node Meta, Node Attributes, and Node Analytics (if analytics have been executed).
    • Graph — Graph-level analytics and metrics.
  3. Filters (optional) — Add filters to limit or refine the data:
    • Click Add Filter.
    • Field — Select a field from Node Meta, Node Attributes, or Node Analytics.
    • Operator — Select the filter operator.
    • Value — Select the filter value.
    • To delete a filter, click the delete icon on the filter row.
note

The Graph data type is only available if analytics have been executed on the selected data source.

Chart Configuration Settings

  1. Label Field — Select the field used to display labels for each Treemap section from Node Meta, Node Attributes, or Node Analytics. Each label represents an individual data item.
  2. Value Field — Select the numerical field used to determine the size of each section. Larger values produce larger sections.
  3. Group by Fields — Organise the Treemap into hierarchical levels using one or more grouping fields. Each added field creates an additional grouping layer:
    • Click + to add a grouping field and select from Node Meta, Node Attributes, or Node Analytics.
    • To remove a grouping field, click X next to it.
  4. Click Apply.
caution

The grouping hierarchy is applied in the order fields are added. The first field creates top-level sections, the second creates sub-sections within the first group, and additional fields continue creating deeper hierarchical levels.

note

If no Group by Fields are added, the Treemap displays all items in a single-level layout using only the Label Field and Value Field, without hierarchical grouping.
