Data Filter

The Data Filter Widget allows you to interactively filter and control the data displayed across connected data-based widgets within a report, such as charts, tables, network visualisations, and other components. It provides a filter field directly on the report canvas, enabling users to select specific values, categories, groups, or data conditions. Once configured, the selected filter automatically updates all connected widgets to display only matching data.

caution

There is no autosave feature for Reports. Click Save regularly while working in the Report Workspace.

Data Filter Widget Configuration

After inserting and selecting the Data Filter widget, its configuration options are displayed in the right-side Settings Panel under the Filter tab.

To configure the Data Filter widget, you must create at least one filter and connect it to one or more controllable data-based widgets.

Step 1: Filters

Use the Filters section to create and manage filters for the widget.

Add a filter:

  1. In the Filters section, click + Add.
  2. In the Add Filter dialog, configure the following:
    • Data Source — Select a data source from the list. Choose a source that matches the data-based widget(s) you want this filter to control.
    • Name — Enter a name for the filter. It is displayed on the filter card for the designer.
    • Filter Attribute — Select the field the filter should use. Available attributes come from Node Meta, Node Attributes, or Node Analytics.
    • Filter Label — Enter the label visible to end users on the report.
    • Multiselect — When enabled, users can select multiple values from the filter menu.
  3. Click Confirm to create the filter.

Edit a filter:

  1. Click the Edit button on the filter card.
  2. Update the filter settings as needed.
  3. Click Confirm to save the changes.

Delete a filter: Click the delete icon on the filter card you want to remove.

note

You can add multiple filters to a single Data Filter widget. When multiple filter values are selected, connected widgets display only data matching all selected conditions (AND logic).

Step 2: Controllable Widgets

The Controllable Widgets section displays all compatible data-based widgets on the current slide. Check the box next to a widget to connect it to the filter — the selected filter values will automatically control and update that widget's data.

caution

Data Filter widgets only apply filters to data currently available and displayed within connected widgets. If you select a filter value that does not exist in a connected widget's current dataset, that widget displays a No Data message.

Display Mode

Select how filters are displayed within the Data Filter widget:

  • Stack — Displays filters vertically, one below another.
  • Menu — Displays filters in a compact menu-style layout.

Gap

Controls the spacing between filters within the widget.

Align Horizontally

When enabled, filters are displayed horizontally in a single row instead of a vertical layout.

Customise the filter text appearance:

  • Font Family
  • Font Size
  • Font Weight
  • Font Color

Colors

Customise the visual appearance of the Data Filter widget:

  • Accent Color — Applies to active elements and icons.
  • Background Color — Applies to the main filter container background.
  • Menu Background Color — Applies to the background of the filter menu when using the Menu display mode.
