Network
The Network Widget is used to display interactive network visualisations directly inside a report slide. It allows you to embed existing network partitions and views from the Networks module into reports, enabling stakeholders to explore relationships, nodes, edges, layouts, analytics, and visual configurations within the report itself.
There is no autosave feature for Reports. Click Save regularly while working in the Report Workspace.
Network Widget Configuration
After inserting and selecting the Network widget, its configuration options are displayed in the right-side Settings Panel under the Network Viz tab.
Network Viz
Select the network partition to be displayed inside the widget. All network partitions added to the report through the Data Sources section are available in this menu.
Each network partition added to the report acts as a snapshot of the network at the time the data source was added. This includes saved visualisation settings such as views, layouts, interaction settings, filters, styling, and other visual configurations. If changes are later made to the original partition in the Networks module and it is added again as a new data source, the new source represents a different snapshot. Multiple versions of the same partition may appear in the menu with different visualisation states depending on when they were added.
View
Select a saved network view from the menu. Available views depend on the selected network partition and are based on the partition snapshot captured at the time it was added as a data source. Views created or modified later in the Networks module will not appear unless the partition is added again as a new data source snapshot.
Display Mode
Select how the network is displayed inside the widget: 2D, 2D+, or 3D.
Focus Mode
Enables interactive node-focused exploration by displaying only the selected node and its directly connected nodes.
- Enable Focus Mode.
- Click a node within the network widget — the widget focuses on the selected node and its direct connections, hiding the remaining nodes.
- Click another connected node to refocus on that node and its direct connections.
- To return to the default network view, disable Focus Mode.
Network Views in Tabs
Display selected network views as tabs at the top of the widget.
- Enable Views Tabs.
- Select the views you want to display as tabs.
- Reorder — Use the arrow controls next to each view.
- Remove — Click the delete icon next to a view.
- Enable Full Width — Expands the tab bar to full width.
- Change Label — Enter a custom label for each view.
Overlay Controls
Enable or disable all interactive overlay controls displayed on the widget at once.
Nodes Label
Show or hide node labels within the network visualisation.
Edges Labels
Show or hide edge labels within the network visualisation.
Search Field
Show or hide a search box at the top of the widget. Only nodes currently visible in the active network view are searchable. When a node is selected from search results, it becomes selected within the network.
Selected Node Details
Controls the information displayed for a selected node in the details panel on the widget.
- Enable Selected Node Details.
- Click Configure Visible Fields.
- In the configuration window, use the two tabs to enable fields:
- Meta — Node Meta fields.
- Data — Node Attribute fields.
- Enable the fields you want to display for selected nodes.
Each enabled field can be further configured with the following settings:
- Title — Display title shown for the field in the details panel.
- Description — Optional description for the field.
- Data Type — Choose Number or Text.
For fields with Data Type set to Number, the following additional options are available:
- Number of Decimals — Number of decimal places to display.
- Ranking — Highlights nodes based on their values for the selected field. Configure:
- Limit — How many nodes to include in the ranking.
- Mode — Which ranked nodes display ranking indicators: Top (highest values), Bottom (lowest values), or Both.
- Data Mapping — Replaces numeric values with custom labels based on defined ranges. When a node is selected, the mapped label is displayed instead of the original value if it falls within a configured range. To configure:
- Enable Data Mapping.
- Click Add Map.
- For each mapping, configure:
- Upper Bound — Maximum numeric value for the range.
- Value — Custom label to display for values within that range.
- Color — Display colour for the custom label.
Node Group By
When enabled, a group selector is displayed at the top-left of the widget, allowing users to switch between node groups. Nodes within each group are displayed using different colours.
The default node group is based on the Grouping Attributes configured in the Networks module for the selected view at the time the partition was added as a data source.
Changes made later to Grouping Attributes in the Networks module are not reflected in the report unless the partition is added again as a data source.
You can also create custom node groups directly from the widget configuration:
- Enable Node Group By.
- Click the dropdown menu.
- Select an attribute from Node Meta or Node Attributes.
- Optionally, enter a custom label for the group — the new group is added to the available node groups list.
Custom node groups created within the report are independent from the Networks module and are not applied back to the original network configuration. If a Color Range is configured for the selected view in the Networks module, the custom node group feature will not function for that view.
Node Size Range
When enabled, nodes are displayed using different sizes based on the selected attribute values.
The default size range is based on the size range configurations defined in the Networks module for the selected view at the time the partition was added as a data source.
You can also create a custom node size range directly from the widget configuration:
- Enable Node Size Range.
- Click the dropdown menu.
- Select a field from Node Attributes.
- Optionally, enter a custom label — the new size range is added to the available list.
Custom node size ranges created within the report are independent from the Networks module and are not applied back to the original network configuration. Changes made to size range configurations in the Networks module after the partition was added as a data source will not appear automatically in the widget.
