Panel

The Panel Widget is used to organise and group multiple widgets within a shared container inside a report slide. It helps structure report layouts into separate sections or layers for better organisation and presentation.

Panels can also work with the Dynamic Control widget, allowing users to switch between different panel layers dynamically during report interaction. This makes it useful for creating layered dashboards, tab-like views, or interactive content sections within a single slide.

caution

There is no autosave feature for Reports. Click Save regularly while working in the Report Workspace.

Layers Structure

Every Panel widget includes a default Root Layer — the top-level layer in the panel hierarchy that cannot be renamed or deleted. Additional custom layers can be created within a Panel widget. Each layer independently groups one or more widgets from the same report slide and can be configured separately for layout, visibility, and behaviour.

Layer Selection Menu

The Layer Selection Menu at the top of the Settings Panel displays the following options:

  • Panel — General settings for the entire panel widget.
  • Root — Settings for the default root layer.
  • Other Layers — If additional layers exist, their names appear here and can be selected to configure their individual settings.

Manage Layers

Add a Layer

  1. In the Panel tab, click + Add Layer.
  2. In the Add Panel Widget Layer dialog, enter a Layer Name (mandatory).
  3. From the Parent Layer menu, select the parent layer for the new layer (mandatory).
  4. From the left grid, select the widgets you want to include in the new layer. Only widgets not already assigned to another layer in the current slide are displayed.
  5. Click the right arrow button to move selected widgets into the new layer. To remove widgets, select them from the right grid and click the left arrow button.
  6. Click Confirm to create the layer — it appears in the Layer Selection Menu and as a card in the Layers section.

Edit a Layer

  1. From the Layer Selection Menu, select Panel.
  2. In the Layers section, click Edit next to the layer you want to modify.
  3. In the Edit Panel Widget Layer dialog, add or remove widgets as needed.
  4. Click Confirm to save the changes.

Delete a Layer

  1. From the Layer Selection Menu, select Panel.
  2. In the Layers section, click the delete icon next to the layer you want to remove.

Layer Layout Settings

  1. From the Layer Selection Menu, select the layer you want to configure — its settings are displayed in the Settings Panel.
  2. A Settings menu appears below the Layer Selection Menu with the following options:
    • Layer [Layer Name] — General layout settings for the selected layer:
      • Gap — Adds spacing between all widgets within the layer:
        • Size — Defines the gap size between widgets.
        • Dividers — Adds a divider line between each widget gap.
        • Divider Color — Sets the colour of the divider lines.
      • Widgets — Lists all widgets assigned to the selected layer:
        • Reorder — Click the up or down arrow buttons next to each widget to reorder them.
        • Remove — Click the double-arrow button to expand the widget menu, then click Remove.
        • Fit Mode — Controls how the widget height behaves within the layer:
          • Content — Displays the widget using its defined height. If total widget height exceeds the panel height, scrolling is applied within the panel.
          • Fill — Expands the widget to fill the remaining available space. If multiple widgets use Fill, the space is divided equally between them.
        • Height — Defines the widget height when Fit Mode is set to Content.
    • Widgets — Displays the settings for widgets assigned to the selected layer.
note

When a widget is selected from the Settings menu, all configuration options available for that widget type are displayed in the Settings Panel.

To select a widget inside a panel, first select the Panel widget on the slide, then click the widget inside the panel.

Use a Dynamic Control to Switch Panel Layers

A Dynamic Control widget can be used to switch between Panel layers by controlling a variable assigned to the Panel widget.

Configure the Panel Variable

  1. Select the Panel widget.
  2. In the Settings Panel, open the Panel tab.
  3. In the Variable Name field, enter a variable name (e.g., panel01-var).

Configure the Dynamic Control

  1. Add a Dynamic Control widget to the slide.
  2. Select the Dynamic Control widget.
  3. In the Settings Panel, open the Dynamic Control tab.
  4. In the Variable Name field, enter the exact same variable name used in the Panel widget (e.g., panel01-var).
  5. In the Variable Value field, enter the exact name of the Panel layer you want the control to activate (e.g., secondLayer).

See Dynamic Control for more information.

Result

When the Dynamic Control is clicked or toggled, it updates the variable value and activates the Panel layer whose name matches the configured Variable Value.

Example:

  • Panel Variable Name: panel01-var
  • Dynamic Control Variable Name: panel01-var
  • Dynamic Control Variable Value: secondLayer

When the control is activated, the Panel switches from the Root layer to the secondLayer layer.

caution

The variable name and layer name are case-sensitive and must exactly match the values configured in both the Panel and Dynamic Control widgets.
