  • Auto-expand Comment Area if Necessary — Automatically increases the size of comment fields as participants type longer responses.
  • Allow Users to Resize Text Areas — Enables participants to manually resize text input areas.

Pages

The Pages settings allow you to manage the structure and organisation of your survey.

  • Pages List — Displays all existing pages in the survey. You can view and manage page names, reorder pages using drag-and-drop, and add new pages using the (+) button.
  • Show Page Titles — Displays the title of each page to participants during the survey.
  • Show Page Numbers — Displays page numbering (e.g., Page 1, Page 2) to help participants understand their progress.

Logic

The Logic settings allow you to define dynamic behaviour within the survey by creating calculated values and automated triggers.

Calculated Values

Calculated values create variables whose values are derived from expressions based on participant responses. To add a calculated value:

  1. Click the (+) button.
  2. Define a Name — the variable name used to reference the calculated value within the survey.
  3. Add an Expression — the logic or formula used to compute the value, which can include references to questions, variables, and conditions.
  4. Optionally, enable Include into Survey Results to store the calculated value in the final survey results.
note

Calculated values are useful for scoring, aggregations, or deriving new data points without requiring additional input from participants.

Triggers

Triggers define actions that occur automatically when specific conditions are met. To add a trigger:

  1. Click the (+) button.
  2. Select a Trigger Type from the dropdown — defines the type of action to be executed when the condition is satisfied.
  3. Define the Expression using the Expression Builder — specifies the condition that must be met for the trigger to activate.
  4. Configure the Target Question and action fields as needed — identifies the question the trigger will affect and the action to execute.
note

Triggers enable automation such as updating answers, controlling behaviour based on responses, or applying dynamic logic throughout the survey.

Data

The Data settings control how survey responses are collected, stored, and managed throughout the survey lifecycle.

  • Clear Invisible Values — Determines what happens to answers associated with questions that are no longer visible due to logic or conditional branching:
    • Never — Hidden question values are always preserved.
    • When the survey is completed (default) — Invisible values are cleared only after the participant completes the survey.
    • When the question becomes hidden — Values are removed immediately once the question is hidden.
    • When the question or its panel/page becomes hidden — Values are cleared when either the question itself or its containing panel or page is hidden.
  • Update Text Question Value — Controls when responses to text-based inputs are saved:
    • On blur (default) — The value is saved when the user clicks outside the input field.
    • While typing — The value is updated continuously as the user types.
  • Save Partial Survey Results in Progress — When enabled, allows incomplete survey responses to be saved before submission.
  • Store the "Others" Value in a Separate Field — When enabled, responses entered under an Other option are stored separately from predefined choices.

Validation

The Validation settings define how and when the system checks user responses to ensure all required fields are completed correctly.

  • Set Focus on the First Invalid Answer — When enabled, the survey automatically moves focus to the first question with an invalid or incomplete response.
  • Run Validation — Controls when validation checks are triggered:
    • When switching to the next page (default) — Validation occurs when the user attempts to move to the next page.
    • After an answer is changed — Validation runs immediately after a user modifies a response.
    • Before an answer is changed — Validation is triggered before a new value is accepted.
    • When the survey is completed — All validation checks are performed just before submission.

Survey Complete

The Survey Complete settings define what happens after a respondent finishes the survey.

  • Navigate to URL — Redirects respondents to a specific webpage after completing the survey (e.g., a thank-you page or external website).
  • Show the Survey Complete Page — When enabled, a completion page is displayed after the survey is submitted.
  • Survey Complete Page Markup — The content area for designing the completion message shown to respondents.
  • Dynamic URL — Defines conditional redirection rules after survey completion. To add a dynamic URL:
    1. Click the (+) button.
    2. Define the condition in the Expression field using the Expression Builder.
    3. Enter the target destination in the Service URL field.
  • Dynamic Survey Complete Page Markup — Displays different completion messages depending on user responses or conditions. To configure:
    1. Click the (+) button.
    2. Click Edit to define the Expression using the Expression Builder.
    3. Enter the desired message in the HTML Markup editor.
  • Markup to Show While Survey Model is Loading — A message displayed while the survey is loading (e.g., Loading Survey…).
  • Markup to Show if the User Already Filled Out This Survey — The message shown when a respondent attempts to access a survey they have already completed.
note

Multiple dynamic URL rules can be added to handle different scenarios.

Timer / Quiz

The Timer / Quiz settings allow you to control time constraints within the survey, suitable for timed assessments or quizzes.

  • Time Limit to Finish the Survey (in seconds) — The maximum time a respondent has to complete the entire survey. A value of 0 means no time limit is applied.
  • Time Limit to Finish One Page (in seconds) — The maximum time a respondent can spend on each page. A value of 0 means no time restriction per page.
  • Timer Location — Determines where the timer is displayed:
    • Hidden — The timer is not visible to respondents.
    • Top — The timer is displayed at the top of the page.
    • Bottom — The timer is displayed at the bottom of the page.
  • Timer Mode — Controls how the timer behaves:
    • Both — Applies both survey-level and page-level timers.
    • Page — Applies timing only to individual pages.
    • Survey — Applies timing only to the entire survey.
