Logic Rules

The Logic tab allows you to create rules to customise the flow and behaviour of the survey based on respondent inputs. Using logic rules, you can control what respondents see, skip or display questions dynamically, set or reset values, and guide the survey experience based on previous answers.

Create a Rule

  1. In the Designer Studio, click the Logic tab.
  2. Click Add New Rule.
  3. Under IF, click Select…, choose a survey element (question or input field) — the selected element is displayed below the IF section.
  4. Click the operator dropdown (e.g., Equals) and select an option from the list.
note

Available operators vary depending on the selected element type (e.g., dropdown, checkbox, address search).

  1. Set the condition value — select an option from the displayed preview of the selected element, or enter a value depending on the element type.
  2. Optionally, add additional conditions:
    • Click Add Condition and repeat the condition setup steps.
    • If multiple conditions are added, use AND or OR to define their relationship.
  3. Under Then, click Select action… and choose an action from the list (e.g., show/hide question, skip to question, set value).
  4. Click Done to save the rule.

Edit a Rule

  1. In the Logic tab, locate the rule you want to edit.
  2. Click the rule to open its configuration.
  3. Update the condition(s) or action(s) as needed.
  4. Click Done to save your changes.

Delete a Rule

  1. In the Logic tab, locate the rule you want to delete.
  2. Click the delete icon on the rule.
caution

Deleting a rule removes its logic from the survey and may affect the survey flow and behaviour.
