v1.0 — Initial Release

Released: 2025

This is the initial public release of SNA Toolbox. All core modules and features described in this manual are part of this release. There are no prior versions to compare against — this entry documents the full baseline of platform capabilities at launch.

New Features

User Access and Management

  • Invitation-based registration — no public sign-up. Users join through a project invitation sent by a ProjectAdmin or DataOwner.
  • Two-factor authentication (2FA) required at registration, using an authenticator app.
  • Six project roles with distinct responsibilities: ProjectAdmin, DesignManager, DataOwner, ProjectOperator, DataAnalyst, and ReportViewer.
  • Role-based access control (RBAC) scoped per project — a user can hold different roles across different projects.
  • User account settings covering profile information, password management, and active session control.

Projects and Panels

  • Project creation and management from the General Dashboard, including rename, delete, clone, tag, and favourite.
  • Two project categories: Fixed Population and Snow Ball.
  • Project settings: title, image, SMS sender ID, outgoing email address, colour theme, and description.
  • Multi-panel support — each project can contain multiple independent panels, each with its own nodes, surveys, networks, and reports.
  • Default panel created automatically on project creation.
  • Panel copy — duplicate a panel's structure (without data) as a starting point for a new panel.

Surveys

  • Survey Workspace management — create, rename, clone, delete, and favourite workspaces.
  • Designer Studio — full survey builder with:
    • Canvas for arranging pages and questions.
    • Toolbox with a wide range of question types and input elements.
    • Properties Panel for survey-level, page-level, and question-level configuration.
    • Logic rules and conditional visibility using the Expression Builder.
    • Multi-language translation support.
    • JSON editor for advanced survey configuration and reuse.
    • Survey Preview mode.
  • Notifications — configurable invitation and reminder messages delivered via Email or SMS, with dynamic content properties.
  • Participants — add nodes individually, import via CSV, generate PDF invitations for offline access.
  • Results and Status — per-participant monitoring of invitation progress, survey access, completion status, time spent, and passcode.
  • Analytics — real-time response visualisation with configurable widget layout. Supports chart type switching, data view, zoom, and image export per widget.
  • Rules — automated action engine triggered on survey completion. Supports:
    • Individual rules — based on a single respondent's answers.
    • Aggregation rules — based on combined responses across participants.
    • Actions: send email notification or create a node action with assignment and priority.

Nodes

  • Node Type configuration — define data structure, custom attributes, and respondent mode per type.
  • Respondent modes: No responses allowed, Self-report, One external respondent, Multiple respondents.
  • Node management — add individually or import via CSV. Force delete option for nodes with dependencies.
  • Node Profile — per-node view combining node details, survey participation, relationship overview, and action tracking. Includes Overview, Surveys, Relations, and Actions tabs.

Relationships

  • Relationship Type configuration — define sentiment (Neutral, Positive, Negative), colour coding, source and target node types, and derived relationship support.
  • Relationship management — add individually or import via CSV with source/target match field configuration and validation.

Actions

  • Centralised Actions module listing all actions across nodes and surveys within a panel.
  • Actions created manually from Node Profiles or automatically by survey Rules.
  • Per-action tracking: title, status (Pending, In Progress, Resolved, Ignored), priority (Low, Medium, High, Critical), due date, resolved date, assigned users, and activity history.

Networks

  • Interactive network visualisation canvas with rendering modes: 2D, 2D+, and 3D.
  • Left toolbar for visualisation configuration:
    • Partitions — create subsets of network data by node type and filters.
    • Views — save and manage named visualisation states.
    • Nodes — styling, sizing, labels, grouping, colour range, size range.
    • Edges — styling, width, colour, labels, arrows, grouping.
    • Layout — algorithm-based node positioning.
    • Filters — highlight, dim, or hide nodes and edges by attribute or analytical condition.
    • Interactions — selection behaviour, adjacency layers, legends, dragging, zooming.
    • Keyframes — presentation-style snapshots with sequential playback, audio narration, and subtitle support.
  • Analytics execution — pre-configured metrics, Assortativity, Greedy Modularity Communities, Strongly/Weakly Connected Components, ERGM, and ALAAM models.
  • Analytics results displayed as floating panels on the right side of the canvas.
  • Action buttons: Fit Network, Fullscreen, Toggle Labels, Save, Export (Excel), Snapshot (PNG/SVG), and node Search.

Reports

  • Report Workspace management — create, rename, clone, delete, and favourite workspaces.
  • Multi-slide report editor with five workspace zones: Slides Panel, Data Sources, Widgets Toolbar, Slide Canvas, and Settings Panel.
  • Data Sources — add network partitions as snapshots; each source captures visualisation settings at time of import.
  • Slide management — add, reorder, remove, and import slides. Per-slide configuration: title, background, header, icons, and onboarding.
  • Widget library:
    • Layout: Text, Image, Video, Icon, Vertical/Horizontal Line, Panel.
    • Data: Chart (Line, Bar, Pie, Scatter, Radar, Boxplot, Gauge, Pictorial Bar, Treemap), Network, Table, Data Filter, Insight Panel, Trend Indicator, Dynamic Control.
    • Navigation: Navigation Link.
  • Widget container settings: padding, background, border, tooltip, clickability, and conditional visibility.
  • Grouping and combining of multiple widgets.
  • Report sharing — share with ReportViewer role users; shared users receive an email notification.
  • Preview mode — fullscreen interactive preview as end users will see the report.
  • Report-level settings: header, onboarding, and thumbnail configuration.

Known Issues

  • Survey data sources for Reports are not yet available. Only Network partition data sources are supported in this release.
  • File-based and Benchmark data sources for Reports are not yet available.

Notes

  • This is the baseline release. All future release notes will reference changes relative to this version.
